* Clarendon, 22 Jul: 'Police left; noise resumed'
(21028) Several residents have complained about a loud student party at a property in Clarendon Road on the night of Wed-Thu, 21-22 July 2021.
One says the music stopped after the Operation Beech police patrol arrived, but there was more noise after the officers left, caused by people gathered in the garden.
She wrote to UoB: "The numbers did not seem large but the noise/music level was very high, mainly coming from the rear garden. The police attended between 11 and 11.30 pm, and the noise stopped for a short while but resumed after approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
"There was no music this time but a number of people in the garden talking and shouting very loudly. My husband and I had to close our windows, despite the heat, because we could not sleep with the noise level.
"The noise continued to escalate, with the students singing at the tops of their voices in the garden. We could still hear the noise through double glazed windows, and using earplugs.
"By this time it was around 2.45 am. My husband tried shouting from a window, to ask them to keep the noise down but could not make himself heard. At around 3am I shouted from another window, telling them to stop the noise, which they finally did.
" ... Several other households were disturbed ... My neighbour ... has specifically asked that I include her as a complainant in this email."
A third resident said in an email to UoB: "The students were singing at the top of their voices, which required a raised voice to even intervene."
