* Chandos, 1 Nov: Halloween complaints

(23021) Several residents complained about a loud student party in Chandos Road, Cotham, on Halloween, 31 October/1 November 2023.

I witnessed this event myself and submitted a report to University of Bristol to support any complaints they might receive. (I wasn't personally disturbed but became aware of the event after an email from a resident living nearby.)

I arrived just before midnight to see a crowd of about 30 people clustered around the entrance to a property on the north side of the road, not far from Hampton Road. Many were in fancy dress and appeared to be students. The crowd were quite noisy, with beat music in the background, coming from the property.

Moving to a position where I could see the rear of the property, I noticed a crowd of people on a raised deck in the back garden or yard, where the property backs on to those in Woodfield Road. Again, there was a lot of noise from the gathering, with music also audible.

Returning to the front, I witnessed a young woman leaning out of a first floor window and shouting very loudly to the crowd below to either go into the property or move on. (I suspect people were gathered outside because the property was already full.)

UoB acknowledged my report and said they'd had a "significant number" of complaints. I was contacted by two residents, at least one of whom sent a complaint to the university.
