* Chandos, 12 July: 'Screaming and shouting'
(S027) Resident complains to UoB about noise at a student property in Chandos Road, north side, at about 2-30am on Sunday, 12 July.
He writes: "Approximately 15 students exited the property en masse and stayed on the street outside the property making considerable noise. They were screaming and shouting at the top of their voices, laughing and disturbing the whole neighbourhood.
"My wife I and woke, got dressed and walked the 50 yards or so from our house to intervene. We asked them to be quiet and disperse. Most complied but one lad told us to 'chill out' or words to that effect. We then managed to locate one of the students from the address as he exited the property and explained to him that the situation was unacceptable.
"Having to deal with a large group of raucous young people, who are totally unaware of the effect their behaviour has in a largely residential area, is not pleasant and, to be honest, unsettling and upsetting. Both my wife and I were uncomfortable in this situation but in the absence of any sort of meaningful regulation or enforcement, we had little choice. I know for a fact that many of the other residents in the area are too intimidated to intervene or address these young people directly when disturbances occur."
